Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 C brown rice
- 1/2 C lentils
- 2 C water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Directions
Mise en Place
- Finely chop the onion.
- Measure out the ingredients.
Prepare
- Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add onion and sauté until lightly browned.
- Stir in rice and lentils.
- Add water, salt, pepper, and cinnamon.
- Stir and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 35 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Fluff with a fork.
