Bring water, sugar, apple, and orange to a boil using medium heat in a saucepan.
Add remaining ingredients; return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the apples are tender. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on the sauce.
Cool to room temperature and refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend. Best if served at room temperature.
