The non-profit celebrates its 15-year anniversary with its favorite notable chefs by hosting a series of Chef Takeovers in Austin, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Chicago.
AUSTIN (July 24, 2019) – Common Threads, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness to children, families and communities through cooking and nutrition education, just announced the launch of its 15th Anniversary Chef Takeover Series. The event series consists of four one-night-only ticketed events throughout the country, beginning with Austin on September 12. Tickets for this food-driven event, hosted at the Pershing (2415 E. Fifth St.) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., are on sale today at commonthreads.org/events.
Charity Navigator evaluates nonprofit organizations based upon two components: financial health and accountability & transparency. Each event in the series features a group of renowned chefs collaborating to create a locally-focused cuisine. The Austin event will be a dinner featuring chefs Jo Chan (Eberly), Natalie Gazaui (Fonde San Miguel), Nic Yanes (Juniper), Amanda Rockman (Café No Se), Mark McCain (Jeffrey’s), Jason Dady (Chispas), and Berty Richter (TLV). The event will also feature live entertainment for guests to enjoy.

Common Threads’ 15th Anniversary Chef Takeover Series includes events in Austin on September 12, Los Angeles on December 5, then Washington D.C. on February 5 and wrapping up in Chicago on March 16. All funds raised will benefit Common Threads’ cooking and nutrition education programs and will help the organization deepen its impact within each local market.
